Income Codes for Products/Services

Hello,

 

I need the ability to assign a code to every product and service.

 

I tried creating a custom field called "Income Code", but that doesn't let me assign a default value. I can see needing other custom fields with the value specified ahead time for things like UPC or Model #.

 

Can anyone point me in the right direction for how to accomplish this?

 

I've tried searching the forums, but haven't found the answer yet.

Every product or service already has a unique ID. On the admin side it says Order# : <number>. That's actually the ID of that product/service. If you click on View Order right next to that <number> you would get the order ID and order number.

I know they have a unique ID, but I need to set a specific "income code" for each one. Some products and services will have the same code, so it's not unique per product.

 

Any suggestions?

You might create a custom field of type Drop Down and enter the default value in Select Options field.
