Renewal Of Domain Issue

I have the dates on the renewal set a couple of months before the expiration date. We do this in case the credit card is not valid for whatever reason as well as if the check is lost or the invoice over looked.

 

However, we are getting this error now that we have upgraded to WHMCS 5.2.

 

Error: This is an active domain, hence no need to renew it.

 

So we took the money from the customer but we are not adding a year to the domain.

 

I have searched google and bing and the WHMCS forum but have not found a solution. Any ideas?
