Client profile details cannot be changed - get "Duplicate Email" error

I have tried changing the profile details both from a logged in client view and as administrator. Both times I get a warning that the file cannot be created because of duplicate email.

 

Version: 5.0.3

 

Admin error:

 

"Duplicate Email Address

The email address entered is already in use by another client account and must be unique for each client"

 

File: clientsprofile.php

 

Client error:

 

"A user already exists with that email address"

 

File: clientarea.php

 

I've searched the forums, but there may have been something I missed. Please advise.

Do you have another client with the e-mail address that you're trying to set already? You can't have two the same; that's their unique login identifier.

No. I am trying to update information for the current client. When I hit "Save" it gives me the error message. I've poured over the Setup settings to find something that I might have ticked or missed but 'am drawing a blank.

Select* from tblclients where email like -blah-

Repeat for contacts

I have this same issue. If a client wants to change their mailing address from client side, they get "A user already exists with that email address" ?

There was a contact with that email address in the database. Deleted that and its all good.
