Consulting Invoices - Can I use WHMCS?

While WHMCS is great with products, what about consulting product invoices? For example, I may agree to provide consulting services for a set amount or by the hour. I'd like to bill through my company which does hosting and uses WHMCS. I created and launched a website for a customer and would like to use the billing system to create a unique invoice for general services or whatever I care to call it. While I can set up products on the site, it's all fixed for a product/service and I'm not able to individually create an invoice with a set non-standard amount that I can see. I'd like not to create a specific product just for this customer at that price and would prefer to use the category and fill in my own price as determined with line items for expenses that also may have been incurred. Has anyone done this? It would be nice to have all billing in one place.

You can try with billable items. I always use this method to bill all my consulences. No product is involved.
