supernix
There is an module called Super TinyMCE sad to say the author doesn't answer messages about the module so as great as it might bet one will never know. Well unless you buy it then risk it working or not.

Troy
WHMCS gave me replacement files today to switch back to TinyMCE in 5.1.2. I'll share after I do some testing. Hopefully this is an indication they're dumping the new editor in the next version.

However I can confirm that in v5.1.3 we will be reverting back to TinyMCE editor to resolve the issue you are experiencing, applying the update Chris provided will resolve the issue for you now. If we can be of any more assistance, please don't hesitate to get back in contact. Regards, John Support Manager the patch/file is here to work in 5.1.2 TinyMCERichTextEditor.zip

easyhosting
Thanks easyhosting no problem i was intending to pass this on anyway, but i wanted to make sure it actually worked first and it works great, better than what came with 5.1.2.
supernix
Would be nice if WHMCS posted these on an official page somewhere.
supernix
I can tell you that this new TinyMCE doesn't work for the knowledge base area. You just get a plain box that doesn't do anything when you disable/enable rich text editor

supernix
I to have mine all setup loaded with articles; I thought it would be a good idea to check it against as many fields that used the editor to see if it worked all over. I can attest to the fact this is working much better than the last editor. You could only click on one of those variables at the bottom and have it insert the variable into the editor. The new TinyMCE however works great and you can insert one variable after the other fine.
easyhosting
yes i prefer TinyMCE. i could not understand why they changed this in 5.1.2. not overly concerned it not working in KB at the moment, but will relay this in the support ticket to WHMCS
easyhosting
just got this from WHMCS regarding the KB issue Hi,Thanks for taking the time to report this. Our developers are aware of the matter and this will be solved in our next release. Regrettably we do not have an interim fix, in the meantime you'd need to edit the knowledgebase articles in HTML. If we can be of any more assistance, please don't hesitate to get back in contact. Regards, John Support Manager
Troy
This is exactly why I indicated earlier in this thread that I would first do some testing before sharing the file. Looks like I'll just be waiting for 5.1.3 to upgrade, since I never upgraded to 5.1.2 on our production site.

What's your point exactly? I have 5.1.2 in use on a new brand that is still pre-launch, but I'm not going live until I'm sure some of the 5.1.2 issues are resolved. I asked WHMCS if they were going to address the deficiencies of the new editor, because I wasn't going to upgrade our production site without WHMCS having a standards compliant editor. They gave me the files to revert to TinyMCE. I posted here about it so that folks would know there was a TinyMCE replacement direct from WHMCS rather than using this third party workaround, but I didn't think it was appropriate to share the files until further testing was done. It would seem that decision has been validated.
supernix
If you're just going to edit the KB in HTML then you could just do that with all of it and it wouldn't matter anyway. I guess it is good that it will at least speed up editing everywhere else.

Regards, John Support Manager For what it's worth, I recently asked about the status of the problems with the TinyMCE replacement, and was told that this is NOT a known issue, so there seems to be some internal lack of communication or something going on over there at WHMCS. (Or he just meant it isn't a known issue NOW.) After some back and forth I did get the latest files from WHMCS, and they correct the problem with knowledgebase article editing. I haven't tested other areas yet. The file is too large to attach here, so I recommend you ask WHMCS for them, or I can make them available somewhere if need be.
