rke211 Posted August 13, 2012 Share Posted August 13, 2012 So i have a client and i have registered a domain for them which i can access now they cant and havent been able to for days so i had them check they could reach the server by using http://ip/~username/ that was fine so the server is online for them i have also had them clear their dns but no matter what steps i can think of they just cant get on http://sitename.com does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

easyhosting Posted August 16, 2012 Share Posted August 16, 2012 managed to determine it must be there internet as when using wifi they couldn't access it but when using 3g the site comes up have also tried several browsers and devices safari simply gives the error that the dns could not be found are you aware that once your regsiter a domain it can take upto 72 hours for the DNS to propagate, so you may not be able to access the site using http://sitename.com but will be able to access the site using http://ip/~username/. we have in our welcome email that if they have just registered the domain use the IP to ftp files etc to the site for at least 24 hrs ( propagation will using only take 24 hrs, but sometimes can take a full 72 hours.) 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I would have thought dns would have gone through by now as 3 days ago was the post. yup if still no joy after 3 days then looks like duffed DNS. sometimes its just a simple task of terminating the account on the server and then setting back up again, as we have had DNS issues fixed this way, but if the NS cant be pinged then it could be them not set correctly at registrar or the host has not a clue how to set these correct on the server. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
