0 WHMCS CEO Matt Posted July 20, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted July 20, 2007 Well it works, so I guess it must do! It uses the PGP email encryption method of communication and supports updating nameservers, registration, transfer and renewals. 0 netmotiv8
Hi Matt, How about syncing with Nominet, e.g. if a client orders a transfer of a .uk domain whmcs will need to be updated with the true renewal date when the transfer is completed. Also should the client update details directly at Nominet then again these changes would need to be synced back to whmcs. I see other providers modules (i have experience of MB and AWBS Nominet modules) sett up a cron to run a script every 5-10 minutes etc to 'talk' with Nominet. Is there this function for your Nominet module? Neil
0 WHMCS CEO Matt Posted July 20, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted July 20, 2007 Nothing needs to be synced with WHMCS as no data is stored locally. Nameservers are taken live from the WHOIS records. Matt

0 othellotech
Please can someone confirm that the new Nominet module supports the latest changes that Nominet introduced in June/July The Nominet module has the current automaton template *content* for the original and still working email methods: {TAG} Domain Request {TAG} Modify (nameservers only at this stage) {TAG} Renew {TAG} Accept/Release None of the utter cr@p Nominet ideas about 3 admin contacts, account codes etc are (and IMHO never should be) implemented Apart from Nominet screwing up the LIST automaton responses, none of the new Nominet automation changes: a) does anything that couldnt be done with the existing methods b) appears to have any significant improvements c) provides and functional benefit to 99% of members and it all appears largely a very expensive waste of time as a smoke-screen to not actually implementing a proper EPP system as promised for the last 3 years.

0 othellotech
Also should the client update details directly at Nominet then again these changes would need to be synced back to whmcs. *ABSOLUTELY NOT* The contact information for a domain has ZERO relevance to the contact in your billing/client management system. Who is responsible for paying your invoices shoudl not be determined by what name/address is shown on a whois ! Probable additional features of being able to import from a {TAG} List/Query, updating renewal dates from the ACKs etc at some future point - Most of these "nice" features wont work until Nominet fix their extremely broken automation responses, and/or finally get a working API For now you should (and even if automated you still should) *read* the response emails that come back from Nominet.
