Changes to ENOM module

With the upcoming multi-year registrations for .uk domains, do changes need to be made to the Enom module?

Email from Enom yesterday:

Change #1: Availability of Multi-Year .UK Registrations & .UK Renewals

Summary:

Nominet, the UK registry, will be enhancing their Registry system to support the ability for Resellers to register or renew .UK domain names for single or multi-year terms. Details below:

Current Behavior:

eNom’s API requires all new .UK registrations and .UK renewals to be executed at a two-year term only.

New Behavior:

eNom will upgrade our API to support single year registrations/renewals or multi-year registrations/renewals (1-10 years). This change is optional. If you elect to take advantage of this change, then you will need to update your API PURCHASE command to allow for single year registrations, renewals, etc. If you prefer to not offer this feature, then no work is required on your side.

Go Live Date:

eNom will be live with this new feature on May 1, 2012.

Change #2: Real-Time Response

Summary:

eNom will be upgrading our Registry systems to support real-time responses from Nominet.

Current Behavior:

eNom’s API PURCHASE Command currently operates in a non-real time manner for .UK. Our system centers on a 1300 Response code (RRPCode) for UK registrations. Resellers call the API PURCHASE command and expect to receive a 1300 response code. This code signifies that the registration is not real-time and thus the Reseller must “poll” the domain and/or Order to confirm it has been processed by the Registry.

New Behavior:

Once we make this change, our API PURCHASE command will return a 200 Response code if the UK domain name was successfully registered. If it failed, we will return the appropriate error code (similar to how we handle .COM and .NET responses today). To be clear, we will no longer return a 1300 response code for .UK post this change. This change is required. Once we go live with this change, any Resellers who have not made this update may see failures in processing UK registrations.

To ensure this does not happen, we are giving Resellers 60 Day Notice to accommodate this change. In addition, we have posted a brief Technical Guide that outlines the specific code changes required for this update. It can be found here:

Go Live Date:

eNom will launch this change on June 1, 2012.
