Ticket system truncates submitter name before accented character

Recommended Posts

Stumbled on this one while testing the ticketing system with one of my own email accounts.

Have an email account on my computer where my name begins with "Seán" (but of course the actual email address contains no accents).

When I send from that email address to any of my support departments, the ticketing system records my submitter name as 'Se', truncating it before the 'á' character.

However if I submit a ticket through my website 'Contact Us / Open Ticket' form, and include the 'á' in when completing the Name field, the ticketing system records my name as 'Seán' (with accent correctly included and no truncating).

Anyone else come across this?

Or might it not be a bug, but instead be caused by something on my host server / email piping setup?

Seán
