tailoredwebhosting.com
I was wondering if we could use Godaddy API to work with your script for domain registar? Thank you!
0 MACscr
the godaddy api costs about $2k to use AFAIK and is not supported. I wouldnt touch that company with a 10 foot pole. i cant stand them. Use a quality registrar like enom or directi.
0 SpookedOut
I don't think many people would touch that company with a 10 ft barge pole.
0 uberhost
I transferred my domains away from GoDaddy a couple years ago and never looked back.
0 trine
my personal experience a few years back with WWD/GD was horrible. We noticed that they even contacted our clients with their promotions... that's not good for biz. Plus, if you read carefully through their terms or service and reseller agreement, they can shut off any domain if they feel it's necessary, and with little recourse. There is a well-known case (probably still on WHT) where an entire datacenter got shut down just because someone using their network was spamming (very common amongst all providers), and the DC's domain was registered through GD, who got a complaint, then suspended the domain... That wouldn't be the first time for GD to do that. Spooked said a ten foot pole, I say 10 miles!

Never had any problems with them and they seem to be 500x better than 1and1. What domain registrar doesn't say that they can suspend any domain at any time?
0 trine
I'm glad to hear that you like them, but my statement was based on my personal experience. In addition, I have never heard of any other registrar shut off anyone's domain name without a legal injunction of sorts, but there are at least 2 or 3 (if memory serves me well) known cases of GD doing this, for reasons that only they know. Spam issues should be handled with the ISP/DC, upstream provider. Not with a registrar. Let's say you host someone. They spam, perhaps unknowningly and you don't catch it immediately. GD shuts you off... without notice, because they got spam from an account on your servers with your ns domains ... now, how would that feel? And if you think it can't happen, look at every major DC out there... they all have spammers with little exception. Anyway, I trust you understand everyone's opinion. Cheers! Registrars shouldn't play spam cops. If they had that role, and ICANN officially adopted it, then I wouldn't be saying all of this. Who knows, perhaps we'd have less spam that way???

0 trine
yes even better giggle! At least they didn't shut you off for spamming, but rather just to take your money and run

I'm sure there are plenty of people that are currently satisfied with GoDaddy's service, or else they'd be out of business. OTOH, many of the people who feel unjustly treated by GD today, may have felt well-treated yesterday. Worrisome threads like this are not uncommon: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=515411 Food for thought.
0 hoosierweb
pick any company.. and you will find the same.. I personally do very well reselling some of their product (ssl etc) and last I looked the domain api was only $250 with google adwords credit.. Its a lot like paypal.. for those it works nice for great.. for the few who have lost hours and tens of thousands of dollars.. or even $25.. not so great Companies all have different TOS.. they just dont do things to pick on you, but to protect the rest of us They only issue I ever had with a hosting/registrar.. is one hosting company that continues to send me past due invoices on a dedicated server I had canceled and moved (but they didn't process for 3 hours after the next billing cycle.. and $150 for 3 hours of service that wasn't used is a joke to me) But I did have a $3k issue at paypal.. after years of using them as a processor.. so no more international sales for me.. (as that was the issue not paypal.. they denied the original request to a charge back as shipping information showed it being delivered.. but ultimately, it was the 'customers' cc company who had the last word.. ignoring all of that.. Sorry off topic.. If you want to process the domain orders manually to save $1.. then set up the email.. and use godaddy/wild west resellers.. but it really isn't worth it.. so consider using one of the other friendly snap ins.. so the domain can be purchased hands free
0 trine
>>pick any company.. and you will find the same.. exactly! there is good and bad in any company, so really it is just a matter of informing yourself and making the best informed choice for your company to prosper.

0 WHMCS CEO Matt Posted August 17, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted August 17, 2007 There's no automation with GoDaddy. You would have to register your domain orders manually. Matt
