Basic Question About How To Setup Affiliates

Hello,

We are trying to set up an affiliate system where we pay 50% of the hosting fees 1 time as a commission, but no commission based on the domain name fees or upsells.

So by way of example:

Person signs up for the following account (with crazy values, I know!):

Domain Name: $25

Setup Fee: $50

Upsells: $75

Hosting Fee: $100

The total invoice would be $250

The commission would be a 1 time commission of $50 (50% of the hosting fee)

I believe what I need to do is create 2 products (since we are using a custom order page, this works)...

1. Create a product that has NO commission (IE: Setup & Upsells)

2. Create another product that has hosting and domain name fees. (Domain name fees aren't calculated into the commission amount by whmcs)

How do I configure the affiliate systems...

Under Setup | General Settings | Affiliates I have:

Enable/Disable checked (duh)

Affilate Earning Percentage: 0

Affiliate Bonus Deposit: 0

Under the product configuration (the other tab):

Custom Affiliate Payout: Use percentage

Affiliate Pay Amount: 50 (with one time payout) checked

After placing an order (and using these settings) the commission is 0

Shouldn't the product's settings override the general affiliate settings? (Maybe I don't understand what the parameters mean?)

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

If you don't define an affiliate amount on the specific product, it will take the system's default. So yeah, you could just set the default commission rate to 0 and then define a higher rate for the specific products (hosting, etc).

That's what I thought, but the specific commission on the product isn't overriding the system default...Does anybody else see this? (I'm running 5.02)

Thanks!
