Merlin54
I would like to get WHMCS to store a copy of the customer usernames and passwords in a folder located above the root of my domain. I would like this to happen when a new customer signs up on my site as well as when a customer changes their password. Is there anybody out there that can help out with this?
laszlof
Why would you want to do this? Storing passwords unencrypted on the local filesystem is a very bad idea.
Merlin54
I will be storing them in a folder "above the root" so they are not accessible to the public. I believe that would be secure. I want to get this done because I want to offer information that only registered clients can view. I checked out the downloads section but that won't work for me since I don't want people to be able to download stuff and I need this information to be password protected. I also looked through the addons section carefully and I did not notice anything there I could use for this purpose. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
laszlof
Just because its above the document root doesn't mean its secure. A simple script could easily read them regardless of the location. Regarding the downloads in WHMCS, you can link those to particular products and/or make them only available to customers.
