Nominet? :-(

netmotiv8

Question

Hi,

Was seriously considering buying WHMCS but it doesn't support Nominet so WHMCS is not an option.

Considering the size of Nominet I am surprised that this is not supported. For UK hosts this is a must. I know you can register domains through other providers but not a the discounted costs that Nominet members get.

When will Nominet be supported?

Cheers

Nominet isn't a must for UK hosts, far from it!

Although I do agree direct nominet support would be nice!

What is an alternative to Nominet that allows a host to offer competitive domain pricing for .uk domains?

I agree if domain registration is not a core part of the business and want to charge £10-15 per 2 years then other providers maybe fine. We use OpenSRS for all other domains and we used to go through OpenSRS to register .uk domains as well but the pricing eventually put us off.

AWBS and Modernbill support Nominet (I have used both)

Cheers :-)

Nominet don't have API supported right now. This is a question you need to ask them directly.

Nominet have an extremely well documented email based automaton, and WHMCS allows you to write your own registartion modules, so it's *not* that difficult to implement a system to create the right emails to register domains.

I've not had a chance to sit down and extend that functionality to namesrever updates, registrant address changes, renewals etc yet though.

  • WHMCS CEO

I have a module for Nominet written to use their email functions for registering, transfering and renewing domains but haven't been able to test it. If anyone wants to give it a go, let me know.
