how do you protect yourself when ask someone to code a script ?

Hi,

 

 

i need a script and post on whmcs and someone tell me he can code it,

 

i pay for him,

 

after many days,i finally get a script,

 

but it can not work at all....

 

he say he want to check,

 

but he do not re-code it and response me any more,

 

it is already over one month,

 

i worry other people may also been cheated by him and post here,

 

 

when people meet this issue,how can we do ?

 

i suggest whmcs can do some designer authentication here,

 

it will let people get more guarantee....

For starters if you want something custom always get it in writing and get as much information as possible from the person. Ask to see their portfolio. There are many freelancers out there just making money and scamming but there are legitimate ones that are really professional. If all you have is a name and an email. If you want something custom for WHMCS find a reputable company not a person. As always WHMCS can do custom work for you at a fee. If they are still doing so. I hope you get some justice! Good luck!

+1 for everything ocasa said. The best way to protect yourself is to find a reputable source.

Just Get your projects done by a company not a person, Also ask them for their portfolio, by doing this you will be more protected from scamming.

i pay to him and wait one month and can not get a working script from him,and im very angry with him,i give him many time to replay me and debug with the script,but he do not want to replay me at all.and now remove my account from his whmcs system,

 

please avoid paying with him,or he may also charge you but give you un-working script and do not want to support it and do not replay and do not want to refund,please avoid going with him.

@rob2: that whmcs forum user has only 12 posts here. how come you trusted him enough to send him money?

he registered in August 2011, didn't this raise some question marks to you?

don't you run some background check on who you're sending money to?

Posters above stated never use a person, use a company, I have never been burnt by anyone and I wont ever be either. But I do not see how you can determine if it is a person or a company? Anyone can register a company and still rip people off!

Things to try

- freelance sites, they provide some background and feedback, but most of them provide an escrow payment system.

- have the programmer install the script or mod on a demo server for you to play with before giving you the code.

- if those options are not available, use payment systems that have dispute for fraud, most credit cards and some online sites like paypal

- But above all, do research, ask lots of questions and listen to that little voice inside you, it knows more than you think!

A bit unfair Simon, Paypal has placed a hold on your funds, as I told you as soon as I was aware. However I will refund all monies like I said earlier.

It is really simple first you need to checked it every details before you pay him or her..or else pay him 1/4 of the contract or the salary you make deal.He/she will be might possible do it very well and no more cheating is that good??
