xxkylexx
All I can say would be to verify that you have the proper info. in configuration.php for your database.
Adam
Hey everyone,We have just ordered and downloaded the programme... 1) we setup the databases, and uploaded the files, changed the config.php file. now we have the following problem appearing... 'Could not select database' Any ideas? - does anyone else have any experience with this problem? Make sure that in cPanel that you entered in your database name right. Most of the time my clients get this becuse they forget to add the cPanel username in front of the database name. If your cPanel username was johnro and your database is whmcs then you full database name will be johnro_whmcs That should do the trick and make sure between the ' and ' there are no spaces. liamoxyuk
Hey guys, Yeah I know... I have put the username - I'm run a web host myself and my techs don't seem to get what's up because we've attempting changing the config details about 3 times just in case we missed something. Error message still nows, and more annoying is that support haven't emailed me back after 48 hours!... this is putting me off.
Adam
Hey, This is not a WHMCS problem at all, so if your running a webhost, maybe you should keep your day job. If you could post your config file (here on the forums) and make sure that you gave perimssion for the user to access the database that could solve the problem. WHMCS CEO Matt Posted June 17, 2006 WHMCS CEO Share Posted June 17, 2006 Hi Liam, As Adam has said, this issue is nothing to do with WHMCS. The error message is telling you what the problem is. It cannot connect to the database. This means either the database host, username, password or name is incorrect. I have received no email from you in the past 48 hours from what I can see - for support issues, please email support@whmcs.com. Regards, Matt
liamoxyuk
Hey Matt, Yes I submitted a issue through the form on your website over 48 hours ago now. You don't seem to be very supportive from your first reply... yes I do run a web host, but I am do my job which is marketing... the techs do they thing. They don't seem to know what is wrong with it - but the servers have the required technologies, the database has been setup, and the config file has all the correct information in. I'm quite disappointed, I'm a new customer yet you don't seem to be interested in helping... because you so claim its not an issue with WHMCS. Cheers, Liam
Adam
Hey, This error as Matt explained, is not WHMCS fault at all. Okay. "Could not select database" Means ONE of the settings you input is wrong! Make sure that use has privileges set to ALL. You can post your config. file here on the forums and maybe there is a setting you are over looking. If you can't setup a database nor can your "techs" you order the Professional Installation & Configuration which will have a Professional install this for you. WHMCS CEO Matt Posted June 18, 2006 WHMCS CEO Share Posted June 18, 2006 Liam, I'm not meaning to sound unsupportive. I'm just explaining what the problem is in as quick a way as possible - there are a lot of support issues to deal with you know! If you really can't figure out how to enter the database details for it to work of course I will help you out but I thought pointing you in the right direction would be enough at first. As I said, unfortunately your form submission was not received so please resend it or email support@whmcs.com if you need furthur help. GS-Richard
I know this might sound stupid, but did you add the database user to the database?
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted June 18, 2006 WHMCS CEO Share Posted June 18, 2006 UPDATE: Just logged into cPanel, setup a new database and user, issue resolved within a minute. Makes you wonder just how some techs get the title "technicians"!!! Matt
