Additional items vs. Available add-ons

This seems a bit confusing to me. Why are the add-ons for a hosting package hidden away in a link under the hosting package details? There's a nice big link called "Order additiional items" available from every page in the client area. If I was a client and wanted to buy an SSL cert for instance, that's where I would click, yet it doesn't show up there. Why not have all add-ons show up under that link? And what constitutes an "additional item" as opposed to an "add-on"?

I believe an addon needs to be associated with a particular item hence the term addon or in addition to. Additional items can be bought separately and not have to be associated with anything else and would be a separate product.
