[NOT A BUG] Downgrade does not honour "auto set-up = OFF"

Recommended Posts

We use cPanel but have WHMCS set not to automatically set up accounts as we prefer to handle this manually after fraud check.

However the upgrade/downgrade order button in admin does not seem to honour this setting.

When I did a downgrade I got:

Automatic Product/Service Upgrade Failed - Service ID: 166

Module Upgrade/Downgrade Failed - Service ID: 166 - Error: (Curl Error) - code: 7

which seems to imply that WHMCS tried to contact the server and failed.

I think this is a bug - according to our admin settings, WHMCS should not attempt to contact the server at all

The downgrade went through okay on the WHMCS billing though.

with kind regards,

Edith Karnitsch

Hi Edith,

You have auto setup for new orders disabled, but there's no such setting for upgrades/downgrades. With upgrades & downgrades you don't have the same risk of fraud as with automated setup on new orders so we don't currently have an option for surpressing the auto upgrade attempts when upgrades are paid for but I guess we can certainly look at adding one in future.

Fair enough - the main hassle is the long wait until the command fails before the WHMCS change goes through, the page just hangs for a few minutes until it finally gives up & moves on. First time it happened, I thought the screen had frozen. Like I said though, the WHMCS part works.
