Mass Mail recipients error

When I try to send a mass mail based on client products / services, I choose the relevant products in the list and go to compose message. The recipients box is filled with several clients details so I write the message but when I hit send I get the following error :

 

No Recipients

The criteria selected for this email has resulted in no recipients which means it cannot be sent

 

The recipients field is also now completely empty.

 

I have tried with several different combinations of product choices and even when i do the simplest test and try to send to only one or two recipients the same thing happens.

I don't think this is the problem as it's happenning within a few seconds of logging in and I can then carry on using the site without getting any issues with sessions.

 

It is happenning consistently every time I try to use the mass mail tool whether to send to a couple of people or to hundreds.

 

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Having looked into this a lot more it seems that it's actually nothing to do with the recipients but occurs if you don't fill anything in in the subject field, i.e. it blanks out all the recipients and says

 

"The criteria selected for this email has resulted in no recipients which means it cannot be sent"

 

If you fill in a subject and submit it tries to send even if you haven't got any recipients in the box so it obviously doens't mind the fact that there are no recipients to send to, it just doesn't like it if you don't supply a subject!

 

Could this be a problem with the error reporting? I tried to look for the error string in the lang files but couldn't find it anywhere.
