Changing WHMCS Install Directory (As far as PayPal IPN is concerned)

Recommended Posts

Is there any easy way to do this, as if the directory is just changed, all existing subscription payment notifications won't reach the WHMCS database, as the PayPal php file will be in the incorrect place?

Does that mean if you do want to change the WHMCS installation folder, all your clients subscription payments would need to be cancelled?

I mean if you didn't cancel them and didn't do anything, the payments would go through but WHMCS would never know, and end up suspending and deleting all hosting accounts due to non payment?

Just wondering if anyone has experienced renaming the installation folder of an established WHMCS install.

Thank you very much

Hi there,

This is one of those areas where dealing with PayPal is a PITA. A few years ago I moved/renamed my WHMCS install to a different folder. I went around and around with PayPal support for almost a year over this. Even though I'd explain the problem in detail, all I ever got back was instructions on how to set up the IPN.

I tried turning off IPN, the turning it back on with the new/correct details, and yet the PIN would REVERT to the old/previous location...no matter what I put in! I submitted numerous support tickets to PayPal. I even tried creating a symlink/.htaccess redirect to the new location of the file.

Nothing worked. Luckily there was only one subscription from "the before time." I informed the customer, cancelled the subscription, then had the customer recreate it. It's the only solution I found that worked. It's a stupid way to have to achieve something that should be a simple thing.
