yongkailoon
Hi, my trial license is up to today 25th August and I would like to know what is going to happen tomorrow? Will WHMCS be not usable until I purchase a full license? Thanks in advance! Got to be prepared to not have any downtime.
laszlof
You will not be able to receive any orders through the system or access the admin I believe.
PingEx.com
The world ends..... If you are buying I think you can upgrade in client panel David
laszlof
There really isnt an "upgrade". You just buy a license and replace the one listed in configuration.php
yongkailoon
Yes I'm planning to purchase the license but just want to reconfirm what happens. I'll probably stay awake and wait for the trial license to expire and avoid any downtime.
laszlof
Just order the license and replace the license text in the configuration.. There will be no downtime.
yongkailoon
Weird, the 15 days is up and everything still works like normal.
openmind
I'm confused. If you intend buying a license then why are you worrying so much about what happens at the end of the trial? Buy the license Update your install license key Move along and get on with it
yongkailoon
Well, just a thought that went through my head, I think this is something that WHMCS should fix because if the trial license is over the 15 days, it shouldn't be working but instead it still works like normal. If so, then I think it'll be unfair to those who purchased the license (apart from the better support for those who purchased the license with some goodies like an account with ResellerClub etc.)? Maybe I think too much.
sparky
When a license is checked on the whmcs licensing server it sends back a local key which I think is set for 15 days so it should expire and then re-check the licensing server for validity. If the licensing server can't be contacted then there is a 5 day grace period to try and contact the licensing server. If you want to check it now then in admin go to Help -> Check for Updates and it will validate it for you and you should instantly see what happens then. The client area should work as normal but the admin area should have no access to it.
yongkailoon
I see, well no looking back for me now since I've already purchased the license. =D
