Promotion Code doesn't work when required product addon is purchased

I posted a thread about this in the forums, but I've since decided this must be a bug or else why would the option be there to select it in the Requires field.

Basically, I wanted a promotion code to validate only when a customer buys a specific product addon which relates to their service. I selected the service from the Applies to box and I selected the Product Addon from the Requires box. But when this goes through the ordering process, it tells me...

The promotion code you entered has been applied to your cart but no items qualify for the discount yet - please check the promotion terms

even though the Product Addon is there in the checkout form.

Please confirm is this is a bug or if it's supposed to be this way then why give the option to select Product Addons from the Requires box?

Many thanks in advance

Regards

Paul

Hi I had the same problem and all it was i assigned the code to the wrong term of the product, i had it set to the quarter term instead of monthly term, so when i applied this to the monthly term i got "The promotion code you entered has been applied to your cart but no items qualify for the discount yet - please check the promotion terms "

make sure you have the code set to the correct product and the corrent terms

By terms I assume you mean cycle as it is labelled in WHMCS. In which case, yes it is setup correctly.

You say you had the same problem? Customer buys a product and so long as they buy a product related addon, they can use the promotion code too, this works for you? This feature is only available as of v 4.2 so I'm just checking we are on the same track!

say you set up a 50% discount on the monthly cost of product A.

when you set up the promotion code you have to make sure that this is assigned to product A and the monthly term.

if you have this set up on product A but assigned to the annual term, then you will get

"The promotion code you entered has been applied to your cart but no items qualify for the discount yet - please check the promotion terms"

as the code isset to the correct product but the wrong term

Maybe I didn't explain well enough. I already have promotions like that, but in the latest release of WHMCS we have a new feature which allows us to give a discount only when a customer purchases something else on top of a chosen product.

For example, customer comes to buy a vps. My promotion allows them to have a discount only if they purchase one of the product related addons, i.e. cpanel. If they don't purchase an addon, they get no discount. The promotion works if the extra is a product and NOT an addon. But if the extra is an addon the promotion doesn't work.

My problem has nothing to do with wrong terms / cycles, I'm sorry if I didn't explain well enough above ;)
