mikewastaken
My SSL certificate is about to expire, since the company is new and no one registered through the site itself, I was thinking of not having it anymore. My only question is : Does WHMCS require SSL to function? It'd be used to replace WHM, with no transactions going through it? Also I would assume that people would still be able to pay through external PayPal?
m00
WHMCS doesn't require an SSL certificate to run. Paypal will also just work without one.

Clients will be less likely to sign up and register with you if they have to add their personal details on an unsecure site
mikewastaken
Clients will be less likely to sign up and register with you if they have to add their personal details on an unsecure site that is true, you do have a good point
easyhosting
that is true, you do have a good point I dont take payment details direct on my hosting site, but i still spend $12 USD (8GBP) a yr on an ssl and approx 20GBP a year on a DED IP. It is well worth it in the long run
sgrayban
Even if you don't have direct client signups you are still using the admin part which has every bit of info for your clients -- passwords, credit cards, addresses and so on open for the picking of nice little trojan/backdoor virus that you COULD have installed on your PC. SSL reduces that risk.
