Hi, In the WordPress community there is a lot of buzz over the iThemes security breach, which was made worse because passwords were stored in plain text. How does WHMCS handle passwords (including users' passwords for their client area accounts, and cPanel login credentials)? Even if they are stored encrypted, is an unencrypted version stored in client e-mails that are sent (since e-mails are stored in the database)? That brings up another issue, the fact that the initial passwords are sent in plain text in e-mail. So...how safe are passwords in WHMCS? Are we storing clients' passwords in plain text? And, if so, how can we stop? Thanks, Mark

Hi, Here's our new integration. We used the excellent Flattern theme from cmsbased, then customized further to match our site. We still have some tweaking to do. Main site (example page): http://www.wppronto.com/features/ WHMCS: http://clients.wppronto.com/ Cheers, Mark

Same here, please issue a fix.

CNUK | Digital Ocean Reseller Module
markb1439 replied to camnetuk's topic in Commercial Modules and Addons
I would also like to see this without the ability for the user to control the VPS. An example would be to offer WordPress-specific hosting. The user would get a VPS with WordPress installed, but the user wouldn't even necessarily know it's a VPS. They'd have access to the WordPress portion of things. Thanks, Mark -
We have this too. Did you ever find a solution?

PayPal IPN Received But Invoice Shows as Unpaid
markb1439 replied to markb1439's topic in Using WHMCS
Another observation...even the URL shows payment successful: ...viewinvoice.php?id=14&paymentsuccess=true... So why doesn't the template reflect this properly? -
PayPal IPN Received But Invoice Shows as Unpaid

Hi, We have a problem that looks very unprofessional and confuses our users. If a customer pays with PayPal, the IPN is received properly (almost instantly), and the client is taken to the invoice which shows "Your Payment Was Processed Successfully" (or something like that). So that shows that WHMCS has received the payment. But the invoice status still reads "Unpaid." This confuses users because they see that their payment has been received, yet the invoice say "Unpaid." It looks unprofessional too, to have two conflicting status message on the same page. I don't think it's an IPN issue, I think it might be template-related or something like that...the status on the template not updating properly. I don't think we're alone because I see the same thing when I order products or services from other vendors who use WHMCS. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark

@snake, you hit it on the head. We need "related products". I'm surprised that, after all these years, it's not in there.

I'm just curious as to why the Duo Security option requires a $3 a month subscription when Duo has a free plan for up to 10 users? Is there a way to link WHMCS to a free Duo account (which I missed), or is everyone forced into the subscription? Thanks, Mark

Is there any way to get add-on products that use various provisioning modules? It doesn't look like it, and this severely limits our ability to sell add-on products during the client's initial signup for web hosting. For example, let's say that we'd love to offer the TRUSTe privacy service, which is provisioned through eNom via the WHMCS module. Since product addons don't seem to have module support, this product can't be offered as a hosting addon. The same with SSL certificates, which we provision through the integrated eNom SSL module. Another example: We offer uptime monitoring which is provided by ServerPing.net, and integrated with WHMCS. But each monitoring package needs to be set up by the ServerPing module. So we can't just offer monitoring as an addon because WHMCS product addons don't support provisioning modules. So the addon feature of WHMCS is very limited if it only supports products that aren't provisioned by modules. (Or am I missing something?) I know we can offer bundles, but that's a much more limited solution than simply offering an array of addons that can be chosen and then provisioned automatically. Any thoughts would be welcome. Mark

Hi, We offer cPanel hosting. Instead of suspending people when they go over their plan limits (bandwidth and storage), we want them to be able to go over...and then have them pay overage charges. However, we have a couple of questions about the best way to implement this. One issue is that cPanel would normally suspend accounts that go over. This feature can be turned off, but it also turns off overage notifications. So I guess we have no choice here, we need to turn this feature off in cPanel...unfortunately, some of our clients may be surprised when they have overages with no warning. The other issue is how to handle the payment of the overage charges. I understand that WHMCS will invoice those charges at the end of the month, and that service can be suspended if the overages aren't paid. However, we want to allow people a reasonable amount of time to pay these. So my questions are: Is there any way that WHMCS can send out overage notifications since cPanel won't do it (if auto-suspension is turned off for overages)? How can we give people a reasonable grace period to pay for overages? Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks, Mark

Hi, Just curious…with cPanel hosting and WHMCS, what happens when a user downgrades their package. For example, let's say they are at a package with 5 add-on domains, and they are using all 5. And let's say they are allowed 20 GB storage, and they're using all of it. What happens if they downgrade to a package with fewer resources? Are some of their domains/storage, etc. eliminated? I want to make sure that users can't sign up for a bigger package, then downgrade and still keep the benefits. Thanks, Mark

Also, what would be the advantages of your module over this one: http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?64463-Free-Stripe-Payment-Gateway-with-Stripe-js-support&highlight=stripe ? Thanks, Mark

Working fine for us to, just in case the poster above had given up. It does work.

I also get the "invalid link" message. Please help!!!

Hi, has this issue (and any others) been resolved? We are thinking of giving this a try.

This doesn't work for me. The subdomain option appears on the order form, but the subdomain is not created in WHM. What am I missing?

Hi, I know that WHMCS allows users to register a new domain, transfer a domain, point a domain, or use a free subdomain. We'd like to always have a subdomain created in addition to the other options (as a staging URL so people can access their sites while waiting for propagation). I know, there is always the hostname/~username approach, but we want to avoid that for various reasons. So, if a user creates a new hosting account under domain.com, we'd also like them to be able to enter an account name or nickname, and this would create a subdomain (nickname.ourmaindomain.com) that also points to their site. Since WHMCS can handle subdomain creation, how can we get it to do that in addition to the other domain options? Thanks, Mark

Hi, We've noticed a strange issue. In testing we used a 100% discount coupon code. Since the order was mid-month, the price was pro-rated. So the cart showed a $7.30 charge and a $7.30 discount, as expected. However, the generated invoice showed a discount of $9.00...the full monthly price of the hosting package. And, thus, the invoice showed a balance due of $-1.70. And WHMCS later sent an overdue invoice notice for the negative balance! Any idea when this might be fixed? Thanks, Mark

VC-AutoPress - WordPress Auto Installer

There is another way. Check here: http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?p=187838 -
Hi, I noticed that when I respond to a ticket via e-mail, the response sent to the customer has the wrong link to view the ticket. Instead of a link to their client area, it gives the link to the admin login. Clients shouldn't be given the link to the admin page. Mark

You can also install WordPress (or many other CMSs) automatically upon account creating using the new automation API from Installatron. For those not familiar with Installatron, it's similar to Fantastico or Softaculous, but much better in my opinion. Automating WordPress installation after account creation is very easy. Here's a quick overview: http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=38565 Not bad for a product you can license for $2.50 per month per server. We love Installatron.

Same here. The template is uploaded in the WHMCS installation, but it simply doesn't appear in the dropdown where the admin can choose a template. The other three are there, but not this one. Safari 5, Mac.

Hi, I know there's been a lot of discussion about how to automate installation of WordPress, Joomla, etc., on creation of a hosting account. It's actually quite easy with Installatron and their new automation API. It's very powerful and yet easy to implement. http://installatron.com/automation There are various methods including WHMCS hook integration, and direct cPanel postwwwacct integration. For example, let's say that you want to use the cPanel method to automatically install WordPress on any new hosting account that is created with hosting plan WP1, WP2, WP3 or WP4. Assuming that Installatron is installed on your server (which is an easy process), just add this code to cPanel's postwwwacct file (or create the file if necessary): #!/usr/bin/perl** my*%OPTS*=*@ARGV;* if*(*$OPTS{'plan'}*eq*"WP1" **or*$OPTS{'plan'}*eq*"WP2" **or*$OPTS{'plan'}*eq*"WP3" **or*$OPTS{'plan'}*eq*"WP4"*)** {** ****my*$randomizedAdminLoginName*=*"admin".int(rand(99999));** ****sleep*10;** ****system("/usr/local/installatron/installatron*--install*--application*wordpress*--user*$OPTS{'user'}*--url*http://$OPTS{'domain'}/blog*--login*$randomizedAdminLoginName");** } That's it! A randomized admin user name and random password will be created and e-mailed to the user upon installation. It's fast too. I think Installatron is the best installer out there for many reasons, most notably because they're always adding great features like this. There are also lots of ways to customize installations, for example to add various WordPress themes and plugins to the installation. Hope this helps. Mark WPCDN
