Salamander

I need to add additional fields to the transaction form where you can add a payment to an Invoice. I've already have the table in place where the data for these fields will be stored. But I'm stuck with adding the fields to the form and saving the fields. I thought about subscribing to one of the hooks, add the additional fields using HTML and then , but I'm not sure if that would work. What do you guys suggest?
