  1. I've ruled out cPanel because it is too expensive. Which of the free or low-cost hosting control panels would be a good choice to use with WHMCS? I've looked at ISPConfig 3 and DirectAdmin as possible choices so far. I prefer free, open source control panels for dedicated servers that I manage for free (for not-for-profit organizations).
  2. I'm looking for a recommendation: which is the best LOW-cost, high-functioning gateway that works well with WHMCS? I'm looking for a rate around 2% like you can get with Elavon/CostCo. Paypal and Google Checkout are around 3%. And, of course, the gateway should be popular enough that it gets updated for WHMCS regularly or as needed and doesn't have any technical problems that make it unusable. What's your LOW-cost gateway recommendation?
  3. Hi Rick, If you have an Executive membership at Costco, there is no monthly charge! And, as you mentioned, it is a huge downside that WHMCS doesn't support Elavon. Their 1.99% rate is their advertised rate... you don't even need to be a "big" player to get that rate. I'm currently with iTransact (also not supported by WHMCS). Their rate is 2.38%. But, again, WHMCS incompatibility is a show stopper. Elavon, formerly Nova, is the 4th largest US credit card processor and a top 6 acquirer in the European marketplace with millions of merchant locations around the globe. See Wikipedia. I'm surprised that such a large gateway is not one of the gateways that WHMCS supports. WHMCS Developers: <plea>Please support Elavon!</plea>
  4. Thanks, Rick, for your feedback. The one I would have picked is Elavon. Their posted rates are just 1.99% + $0.27/transaction. And, their web page claims the ability to get monthly statement and application fees waived. Elavon is through Costco, so I tend to believe their rates are among the lowest. So what's the downside to Elavon/Costco? WHMCS doesn't list them as a gateway. Drat! I have heard a lot of problems from people using PayPal, especially holds being placed on funds. There's even an anti-PayPal website: aboutpaypal.org. I don't have any direct experience with them, but the horror stories are enough to keep me away from them. So, I'm hoping to find a gateway that WHMCS supports that has really good rates (like Elavon). I'm hoping someone knows which WHMCS gateways are the "best " ones to consider in terms of rates, WHMCS compatibility, features, and merchant friendliness.
  5. I've just purchased WHMCS and am looking to choose the gateway that help me avoid the need to report problems in this forum! From WHMCS's point of view, which gateway has the most features, is stable, and has little problems?
  6. I just noticed: 2008 - first request for iTransact, then 2009 - jenluth asked for iTransact, and 2010 - it's my turn to ask for iTransact. I'm hoping that it won't take until 2011 to see an iTransact module! I am trying to implement this myself, but because I've also been considering moving to another gateway, I might just pick a gateway that is already supported by WHMCS. But, which gateway to pick??? Looking for low cost and no hidden fees, good WHMCS support, virtual terminal support (for when I need to do manual transactions), ... all the usual things.
  7. I've been a GoDaddy (WildWestDomains.com) reseller for many years. Pros Excellent Prices ($8.00 for a .com; enom: $9.25, resellerclub: $8.95) Easy-to-use control panel for customers Easy-to-use control panel for resellers API Reseller interface is available (but see Cons below) Huge upselling opportunities exist Cons No integration with WHMCS (you'll need a programmer to design a module to do this) Domain support comes from you, the reseller, instead of GoDaddy/WildWestDomains You'll need to keep the account funded As a new Whmcs user, I'm trying to decide if I want to write my own module to integrate with Whmcs. If I do, I'll probably sell it to recoup development costs. GoDaddy/WildWestDomains is such a hugely-popular domain sales company... I would have thought that there would be a domain provisioning module available for GoDaddy/WildWestDomains.
  8. What's the "best" gateway out there? Well, "best" means a lot of things to different people. Here's what I'm interested in: Inexpensive Cheap for low volume credit/debit transactions (< $2500 per month) Minimal monthly and annual fees Rates that don't go up dramatically after just a few months [*]Robust - works thoroughly with Whmcs for taking payments, processing refunds, handling callbacks, etc. [*]Short Contract - no long contracts with the gateway provider [*]Trustworthy - few complaints relating to unexpected fees, dispute handling, or other failures to deliver quality service There are so many gateways. I wish this site had a rating system (like Amazon.com) in which Whmcs members could rate the gateways.
  9. Hi Bear... thank you for the explanation. Right now I'm struggling to get an iTransact gateway up and running. Unfortunately for me, it is not one of your supported gateways and the instructions from the website are not clear enough for me to follow them. So, I'm probably going to have to rely on the community to help me out. As a professional software engineer (of more than 25 years), I am mostly focused on just getting the job done. Things that get in the way of getting a job done are always an annoyance. I do understand the spam issue. Such things won't be coming from me, though. I don't have enough time in my day to deal with anything other than my programming tasks!
  10. I'm a new, paying customer. I just posted a question to the Customization & Integration Questions forum, but was told that it had to be approved by a moderator first. I don't like that. As a paying customer, my motivation for posting questions is to try to get some answers. Why am I not given the benefit of the doubt and just let my questions post immediately? This also means I might not be able to get timely feedback from the community for urgent issues. If my every post is going to need to be moderated before being published, then I ask, "Why?" Distrusting paying customers is not a good thing.
  11. I just purchased Whmcs, and I, too, need an iTransact module. I put in a ticket to request one, but only got back the response: I read the 1-page PDF document, and it is hardly easy to follow. With no real examples to follow in the document, and with all of the files in modules/gateways being encrypted, I am forced to guess at how to construct a payment gateway. The poor documentation and the answer to my ticket to, essentially, 'do it yourself' does not give a good first impression of Whmcs support. Has anyone gotten an iTransact payment gateway working?
