cyberturk
I think WHMCS is trying to open a port to connect license server but it couldnt so i am asking did anyone experienced a similar situation

webresellers
I HIGHLY doubt that Matt's licensing system it trying to make an out bound connection on those ports to contact the license server. I have a very strick firewall, and I have all non-standard cpanel ports locked down in/out. I have never had any problems getting to the license server. I am going to bet its using port 80. If it was opening odd ports, I am sure Matt and this forum would be flooded with topics like this, and yet this is the ONLY post on this topic. Did you do a netstat -a from a shell? This might show you more details if you server is listening on these ports, and/or if you have any established connections on these ports.
Blueberry3.14
Except that the OP is saying he's having WHMCS license errors, so clearly it *does* have to do with WHMCS. Somewhere in the knowledge base it said port 2086 needs to be open both in/out. I realize those aren't the ports he's having problems with, but it shows that WHMCS is connecting other ways than port 80.
webresellers
2086 & 2087 are standard Cpanel/WHM ports.... Plus a whole bunch of others.... I'm just saying, if the guy (I assume he's a guy) has a question or problem, let him ask without discounting his issue.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted February 17, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted February 17, 2007 Cyberturk, please open a ticket about this issue. Your WHMCS is not working with the local license key system and is therefore contacting our server more often than it normally would. However, no errors showing so I suspect your server is blocking the connection at various times. I can confirm port 80 is used for license checks so no special ports need to be opened and that email you're getting will have nothing to do with WHMCS.
