Critical Error - Unable to connect to DB - After uploading 4.1 upgrade files

I downloaded and extracted the 4.1 files and following the upgrade directions uploaded the new files to my install. Once completed I browsed to my admin page and received the

 

Critical Error

Unable to connect to database

 

I have verified the configuration.php file in under the whmcs directory to be what it was before I copied the new upgrade files. I have verified the DB, and user name in MySql. I have not manually changed the password.

 

I did rename the default WHMCS and Admin folders to something else when I initially installed WHMCS; for security reasons.

 

I can still browse to the client area without any issues. I can log in as a client and view data in the database.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
