Adding extras to a hosting package - how?

I understand how configurable options work, and also how product addons work, but neither of these seem to fit well with adding custom extras to a cutomers hosting package?

For example, currently we have a configurable option for dedicated IP address attached to our hosting packages.

If a client wants an IP its simple enough.

But what if the client wants, say, 8 IP addresses? Should I then use a custom addon for that package rather than the configurable option?

Another example would be if said client wanted to buy some additional disk space, lets say a custom amount of 700MB, how would we add this to their hosting package, again using a custom package addon? How do you guys do this type of thing?

Yes, the only problem with using an addon is it does not show in the customers "products and services" page in the client area, infact the monthly amount shown for the package is only for the package, and only if they drill down further do they see the cost of the addon. It would be nice to be able to show related addons of a package in the products and services page of the client area don't you agree? Otherwise the number's on first glance dont add up correctly compared to what the customer will actually be charged each month....

Having thought abouit this some more, maybe a "custom configurable" would be the right way of doing this, perhaps a feature request? This way like a custom addon we can easily add something to the package, but instead its combined in the package price and package payment terms, as well as displayed with the package on the invoice and such.. i.e. a configurable which is customised and added by admin and not shown on the ordering pages. Seems obvious that this is needed in just the same way "addons" needed and received this feature?
