Division
Hi, Just wondering what billing period you use? Do you use a Pro-Rata billing system Do you charge monthly, quarterly or annually.
ffeingol
We bill everything on the 1st (which implies that we pro-rate). Depending on the server (we have a ton) we offer monthly, quarterly, 6-month and annual. They follow up question (that I'm guessing you'll ask) is why do we invoice on the 1st. In the US (not sure it applies in the UK) we have to deal with unearned income. Since this seems to be an unfamilar topic to most here I'll do my best to explain. If we sell a package for 30.00 on Aug 1st we can't claim 30.00 in revenue. We have 10.00 of revenue for Aug and 20.00 'unearned'. Then on Sept 1st we have 10.00 more revenue and 10.00 unearned. Finally in Oct we have 10.00 revenue and 0.00 unearned. The only time that this really matters is on Dec 31st when we have to calculate things for taxes. Coming up with this calculation in WHMCS (via custom reports) has been a huge challenge for us.
Iceman
I think it has been discussed before, but what we would like to see is the ability to have different invoicing dates for different payment periods. eg Annual invoices can be sent out 2 months in advance whilst monthly may be 14 days in advance.
