Expanding my web design business--have questions

Question

Hello all!

So, I'm pretty excited about what WHMCS can do, but, I am still a bit lost as to how to implement this into my business.

Currently, I just design websites for clients. I have a reseller account where I host my clients websites.

With WHMCS, I understand that it will handle the packages I create, payment processing and domain registration. It can also be integrated with my Helm Control Panel. That I understand.

But, what should I get in place to make this all work?

When registering domains, I usually have customers register their own name and they give me their user name/password and I point their domain to my name servers. With WHMCS, a customer has the option of registering their domain name...so, I guess I need to set up a domain reseller account somewhere?

Can someone show a live example of how they use WHMCS? Who are you using to register domain names? Who are you using for Payment Processing? What type of packages do you offer? Are you running your own servers or reselling hosting?

ANY help is appreciated. I am aiming to make 2010 a great year and I need all my pieces in place!

Thanks in advance.

Hi, and welcome to WHMCS! It's a wonderful and happy community here :D

Yes, WHMCS has a lot to offer. It's feature rich making it the most advanced Billing & Support software with Client Management there is, and of course goes much further especially with the amount of quality modules (addons) for it.

To get WHMCS set up, you'll just need a license and then to download and install it on your server. If you only have a Reseller account then this is fine also. As for Domain Registrations, you'll need to get a Domain Reseller account, of which WHMCS provides for free (no setup fees), and there's two Registrars to choose from, either Enom or ResellerClub. I personally recommend ResellerClub as I find them cheaper and they are always doing special promos.

I use WHMCS to provide web design, hosting, domain names and even SSL Certificates, some people use it to sell physical goods. I use ResellerClub to sell domains :)

Just don't make a wrong move by getting ModernBill or ClientExec (not very good).
