FluidVM - The replacement for HyperVM!

Yeah, but reading up on the whole LxLabs (now LxCenter) shenanigans is that the source code will not be released for two years, and literally half of all the people who are part of the LxLabs consortium, the group of people to work on security until it goes fully Open Source... well, they are all under the age of 18 [1].

Not saying that that is bad, I myself made a Xen control center when I was 17, but the whole point is - I don't think that LxLabs having good open source code in two years is going to be something to boast about right at this moment now.

If anything - the product might end up being just a tad less secure.

I have used FluidVM, and I must say that the product in a few months has become more then what HyperVM was in a few years. The developmental prospects of this product is so much greater then HyperVM.

:shock::shock::shock:

I read this today in the HyperVM forum :

"I don't want to do a promise yet, but MAYBE in october HyperVM can be released as open sourced version as version 2.1.0.

After the open sourced version, everyone that want to contribute can do it. A lot work has to be done and feature requests can be fullfilled.

There are still a few issues that the HyperVM team hope to solve before the 2.1.0 release."

What is your source to say two years?

6. The consortium shall, within 12 months from inception, create a new domain name for itself and transfer the licensing & distribution of the products to this new domain name (idea being formal closure of lxlabs domain)

7. The consortium shall, within 24 months from inception, release the complete source code to Open Source.

The news posted on the forum was not around when I said what I said, so I do however stand corrected. Seeing it go open source will be a great thing, we will just have to see what the code looks like, and under what license it will be licensed under ( I would really like to see something like the GPL. AGPL would be just rubbish to have it licensed under. )

How did you migrate all of your slaves to FLuidVM ?

Because it's still running OpenVZ (which Virtuozzo basically is running too) it should be as simple as just:

1) Create a new user + all user containers in FluidVM

2) Copy the private(?) directory over the top of the one in FluidVM

3) Change IP settings in FluidVM

If you have < 100 VZ containers, it actually would be only a day's job.

I have once moved from OpenVZ to VZ and back again and it was basically that simple... can't see why it should not be harder with FluidVM :)

Hey all,

I just got to know that there's another hypervisor in the market called FluidVM. This product, seems to match everything of HyperVM. (I've not used it tho). Pricing is same $0.50/VE/Month.

Has the ability to integrate with WHMCS with the built-in HyperVM module. and it is able to easily migrate HyperVM containers to FluidVM.

If anyone has used this product, please post your reviews here.
