A few pre-sales questions

Question

We're looking at migrating from MBv4 to WHMCSv3 (when released) and have a few questions that we couldn't find definitive answers to in previous forum posts or something in another post confused how I thought WHMCS would work.

1) If a client package is suspended and then ultimately canceled, is their invoice automatically marked as canceled?

2) For clients that pay using PayPal Subscriptions, are invoices generated to reflect the amount due, and then marked as paid when the subscription comes in?

3) Can affiliate payouts be in the form of client credits and not payouts to be mailed out?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The system does not delete the client automatically. It will suspend the client but not delete. You will have to delete the client and mark the invoice as canceled your self.

2) For clients that pay using PayPal Subscriptions, are invoices generated to reflect the amount due, and then marked as paid when the subscription comes in?

No invoices are generated for paypal subscriptions. When its time for them to pay, paypal will take the money of out their account and put it, into yours. It will then use the IPN url you told it to, and tell WHMCS that they paid.

3) Can affiliate payouts be in the form of client credits and not payouts to be mailed out?

Affiliate payouts is up to you, when they click the button, it opens up a support ticket and you can then send the money to the affiliate.

Adam isn't quite correct here. With PayPal Subscriptions, you can set WHMCS up to create invoices once the PayPal Subscription payment is received. This is to avoid confusing the client making them think they need to pay an invoice by creating an invoice in advance when payment will occur automatically.

That doesnt make sense. An invoice is a bill, not a receipt.

Definition of Invoice: A detailed list of goods shipped or services rendered, with an account of all costs; an itemized bill.

I thought more about this one, and am wondering if this logic could be changed (or configurable)?

We have invoices generated for all clients days before they are due (in our case 10). This is so our system (currently MBv4) can track when Suspensions and Cancellations need to occur (all automated today using a custom module).

If invoices are not generated for Subscription payments, how are services that need to be Suspended and Canceled tracked?

And what if someone changed from "PayPal Invoices" to "PayPal Subscriptions", but they do it after their service has been suspended. Their PayPal Subscription date is set days after their invoice is due, but without an actual invoice how would we know?

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I do appreciate it.

No, the logic won't be changing. You don't need to worry about suspensions or cancellations, WHMCS still keeps track of those. If someone wants to change to PayPal Invoices, simply switch them over (yes, it needs to be done by an admin) and an invoice will be generated for them on the next cron run.
