automatically creating Affiliate Account on product purchase

Hi,

 

I am a first timer in using forums and WHMCS. I want to automatically register a new client as an affiliate if he purchases one of my products online. (this should only happen for specific products on my site).

 

Matt from WHMCS indicated that I could do this by using the ClientSignup hook to auto add clients as affiliates by making the appropriate entry to tblaffiliates in the DB.

 

Could anyone please just let me know what exactly this means? Is there a step by step process I can follow to get this done? (I am pretty comfortable with the basics of programming if this would help?)

I too would like to add affiliates status to any client automatically, in fact I would very much like to find away to make a sub domain and or short URL to assist my clients in the referring process.
