Keycode delivery

Lt Dan

Question

I sell a software that requires a unique 8 digit keycode to unlock the program. With my current system I upload 50 keycodes and when a sale occurs one of them is delivered to the customer in the thank you page and follow up email.

But, the current system does not have a customer management area where they can look up their order information, etc. I would like to switch to WHMCS.

Is the keycode delivery function already in the program and if not has anyone figured out a way to make it happen?

Yes. You can choose a prefix like...

SPEEDY

Then you can choose the key code length like...

SPEEDY-823jf2398f3hf383833

This gets assigned when the order is approved/created and its random.

Unfortunately our software only works with keys from our key generator. It will not work with random keys.

In our key generator we can create an 8 digit key, assign it to a particular product with particular features activated. When the customer purchases the software they will enter in the key and their demographic data. The program then calls our online database with the key and an additional key created from hardware and demographics. Our online database then stores the data and creates an authorization key that gets send back to the customer's program and unlocks the program.

Yes, I generate them in bulk and can upload and store them as needed. One needs to be delivered with the order receipt. Multiple products and multiple keys.

OR

maybe we could call the key generator at completion of the order and create them one by one?

LT Dan,

I opened a new thread here suggesting a method of

using the WHMCS Licensing Add-on Module for DRM

(digital rights management) of ebooks.

If that's possible (see the details of my thread post)

then perhaps you can ditch your old license code method

and go with a more streamlined approach.

just curious, which DRM system are you currently using?

(the one from IMC, or Wes Blaylock, or Dan?)

And, are you protecting software or ebooks?

trish : - )
