adakist
Hello! I am going to be using Directi for future domain registrations, although I am not too familiar with it. I believe WHMCS will be billing the clients for domains (and renewals, etc..) and will subsequently send them reminders, etc.. if the directi module is setup correcting within WHMCS. For the settings within Directi, do I need to set the setting "Do not send ANY mail to my Customers" to true as WHMCS will send any necessary emails? Also, is there any way to disable the client billing in Directi as WHMCS will take care of this, correct? How do you guys have your Directi account setup in conjunction with WHMCS? Thanks!

If you do things correctly, customers should never even know about Directi or have any contact with them at all. All emails and info should be done through whmcs.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted January 13, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted January 13, 2007 No, there's nothing you need to set in DirectI. DirectI don't ever email your customers as all domains are registered under a single user account in your DirectI reseller account for ease of management. adakist
Okay, so it just registers them under your reseller account in Directi and not and individuals user account? If this is the case, then the user is not able to login and make changes to their domain (control their domain), correct?
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted January 13, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted January 13, 2007 They control their domain through WHMCS - nameservers, whois info, etc..
adakist
Well I didn't know that! That's awesome! When someone chooses domain registration, will it get their domain transfer key (secret code) as well (WHMCS)?
bedot
yup when the client selectes "transfer" is prompts for the transfer secret.
adakist
Very neat! I believe my last question relating to domains/Directi is that I'm going to be transferring a few domain names to Directi and want to use them in WHMCS, but I cannot see how to register a domain name in Directi without a user account, so do I create one main user account with my details for registering domains? EDIT: Looking at the config options in WHMCS, it seems that this is what I need to do. Thanks!
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted January 13, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted January 13, 2007 That is correct. Full instructions here: http://support.whmcs.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&catid=5&id=6
jumonjii
Okay, I have a quick question. With whoiscart, I was able to register domains through my reseller account. In the instructions it says this isn't possible and to set up a customer account. Did that. Now..... If I change my customer pricing in Directi, so it's the same cost as it is for my reseller account, this won't reflect to my customers will it?
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted February 11, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted February 11, 2007 With whoiscart, I was able to register domains through my reseller account. In the instructions it says this isn't possible and to set up a customer account. Did that. No, with DirectI, domains have to be registered under a customer inside your reseller account. They can never be registered directly in your reseller account. Now..... If I change my customer pricing in Directi, so it's the same cost as it is for my reseller account, this won't reflect to my customers will it? If you use WHMCS to take your domain orders, then your customers pay the price you configure in Configuration > Domain Pricing - doesn't matter what you set prices to at DirectI
jumonjii
Okay, so whoiscart registered the customer via my reseller account somehow then. The customer account (for WHMCS) wasn't needed. I could keep my reseller funded, and as customers registered domains, it was deducted from my reseller account fund. Now... for WHMCS it seems I have to add funds to my reseller account.....then transfer them to the customer account?
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted February 11, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted February 11, 2007 Correct
jumonjii
Sorry for all these questions. This system operates totally different from what I have been use to. So If I added 100 dollars to my customer account, then domains would automatically register until the funds were depleted. I wouldn't have to keep transfering funds from reseller to customer account?
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted February 11, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted February 11, 2007 Yes, of course. You can add $99,000 to the customers account, then you'll only ever have to add funds to the reseller account in future.
