Categories and Projects

Question

I've been looking at using WHMCS. I have two things that I do using my existing billing system that I would need to do in the future.

1. I currently track all of my revenue and expenses in categories (hosting, website services, e-newsletter services, etc). Can WHMCS do this? If so, can it give me a report by these categories? I saw that WHMCS has product categories, but I didn't see a "revenue by category" report which is what I would need to put things into my current accounting system.

2. I have several clients that require me to track and invoice work by project. So one client may get multiple invoices (one for each project) in a single billing period. Would it be possible to set up WHMCS so that it could do that? Or is it one client, one massive all-inclusive bill?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks chickendippers!

I get that WHMCS isn't an accounting package... that's why I need the information out by category, to put in into our accounting package :). Sounds like I might be able to do that.

Sounds like I wont be able to split invoices up by project (regardless of due date). That's a bummer. Can you think of any alternative ways I could accomplish this? Could I create multiple customers with the same e-mail address to simulate different projects for instance? If you can think of a way I could do this, please let me know. For most clients is wont matter... but for two of my biggest, this is a big deal and I really don't want to run two billing systems (on for recurring expenses and one for projects) if I don't have to.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can do multiple invoices, even due the same day. The only time they get merged is if they are created automatically. Which of course they wouldnt if your manually creating them for the client for each project, etc.
