ChrisGooding
We are getting a little confused about how to manage the DNS side of offering a free subdomain option whilst using Enom's DNS service. Basically we have 3 individual servers, all of which are used for shared web hosting, 1 is Linux/Plesk, 1 is Windows Plesk and the other is Linux cPanel. What we are confused about is that as we are using Enom's dns, so users can manage their dns in the WHMCS control panel, we would normally turn the Plesk dns service off. The thing is that when a user selects a free subdomain, it automatically sets it up in Plesk using the DNS template so we can't. And from what I see, there is no ability for the clients who have selected a free subdomain to manage their dns as there is with other clients!! I would really appreciate some advice on options of handling this.. Up to know we have come up with...... 1 - Different subdomain for each host, using plesks dns service for the free subdomains. (This could then cause issues with purchased domains being set up on to use plesks dns, when they will be using it in whmcs). 2 - completely turn off dns management in Plesk, and when a client chooses a free subdomain option we add the records in Enom ourselves manually (Major headache, not to mention very time consuming) 3 - we don't offer free sub domains (not very good customer service) As said, I would desperately like to hear how you guys are managing this side of things, or even some suggestions of things to try. Additionally some more insight in to actually HOW whmcs handles the dns side of things for the various options would be great. Thanks in advance. ChrisGooding
Sorry for the shameless bump, but I am still really struggling to get my head around this, having come originally from HSPComplete where it was all done centrally, I need to get this nailed sooner rather than later. Surely there is a way to offer and manage free subdomains as currently able in whmcs, when you are using multiple servers, os' and panels etc. I just can't fathom it...... any help/suggestions/insight would greatly be appreciated. Just as an afterthough, ignore the cpanel bit...... its the multiple location, multiple servers and how dns is managed.
