WHOIS lookup isn't working

I keep getting an error message when trying to lookup a domain for registration or transfer either through my web page interface or through the WHOIS lookup utility in the admin panel of WHMCS.

I've got eNom configured as my domain registrar. Not sure if the problem is with WHMCS (I'm thinking that's the case) or eNom. eNom can't help me unless I send them exact command syntax that I'm entering to request data and I have no idea how to find that.

This post is also up in the "integration and customization" forum -- I think it probably belongs here in technical issues and questions.
