Domain Renewal, how is it handled?

yabado

Question

When a domain come up for renewal, how does WHMCS handle it?

I don't like the way MB does it all automatically.

I would rather it email the owner an alert that it needs to be renewed. They go to the page and pay and submit. This action , then sends renewal command to enom API.

That would be kewl 8)

You're gonna like this then!

All upcoming and due domain renewals are shown on the admin homepage (bottom left). When a domain is due, you can simply click the link and it takes you straight to the domains page. On this page, the expiry date and next due date is listed. If it's been paid, you can simply click the Renew button and the domain is instantly extended for a year.

I just imported a bunch of clients from MB. In my enom account, all the renewals are set on automatic. Should I mass set them to not auto-renew and let WHMCS handle the renewals with the client? I noticed that after I imported, the expiration date and renewal dates are wrong. Luckily, I don't have too many so I can edit each client and manually set them to the right dates.

Matt, does this mean that the end-user will have a choice to set their domains to auto-renew in WHMCS or set them to be manually approved by the end-user for renewal?

Providing the end-user with the choice would be ideal, as many having only one all-important domain would probably just want to renew automatically, whereas others with lots of domains, may want to set some to manual.

Good Question ...

Is it possible with WHMCS to choose between automatically renewal and manual // for domains and hosting accounts ?

Because sometimes my clients are a "little bit" late with their payments ...

Hi,

WHMCS will renew the domain automatically once the customer pays for it. Obviously renewing automatically with no need for payment could lead to a loss of money so I don't think that would be a good idea.
