Custom Templating Question

I have gone through the wiki, but all it does is point me to the template files. Anyone who has never looked at whmcs can find the files easily they are in templates/defult. don't need a wiki for that.

Does anyone know where there is any info that is actually useful for speeding up the templating process? Like which file controls the layout. A lot of files like homepage.tpl are only elements. sure if I dig through this for a day or two I can figure it out, but isn't a wiki supposed to help with that?

1. Duplicate the "default" folder in the templates folder and rename it to a custom name

2. You can then make your changes to the template files as required - header.tpl and footer.tpl affect the header and footer of all pages - all other template files are for their respective pages

3. Once complete, upload your new templates folder to the templates directory of WHMCS on your server

4. Finally, to activate the template, login to the admin area, go to Configuration > General Settings and on the first tab of the general settings choose your custom template name from the Template dropdown menu.

This is the extent of the templating help, does anyone have any advice to help me get on my way without opening every file and trying to figure out what they have going on? There has to be one file holding them together since most are just elements.

To customize whmcs you start with the header and footer as you pointed it out in WIKI

2. You can then make your changes to the template files as required - header.tpl and footer.tpl affect the header and footer of all pages - all other template files are for their respective pages

If you want to further customise it you'll have to edit the stylesheet and the individual tpl depending on what you want to do.

hmm, So if i have an existing site I want to have whmcs blend with seamlessly. I would just edit the header and footer? That sounds a little more complicated than it need be? I'll give them a look though, thanks :)
