RPS
There are 31 days in March. That leaves 22 days left, or 23, including today. I have a product for $21.95 ($6.95 price, plus, 30 units of $0.50). When a client orders this product on March 9th, the total price should be: $16.28 Price per day: ($21.95 / 31 days) = $0.708064516 Numbers of days left this month, including today, is 23. Thus ($21.95 / 31 days) * 23 days = $16.2854839 WHMCS shows the pro rated amount is $16.83 (instead of the $16.28 we calculated earlier). It also shows the monthly price is $21.95 (this value is correct) I'm not sure how the pro rated amount is calculated, however, it does appear to be incorrect. WHMCS CEO Matt Posted March 10, 2009 WHMCS CEO Share Posted March 10, 2009 Hi, The calculation is currently based on 30 days in a month - ie. (21.95/30) x 23 Matt
redrat
Hi, The calculation is currently based on 30 days in a month - ie. (21.95/30) x 23 Matt OK but that shortcut, which is exactly what it is and not true pro rata billing at all, is just inviting potentially thousands of fed up customers to inundate your clients (us) with expensive, time consuming complaints that just make us look like idiots when we explain. PS: 30 x 12 assumes a 360 day year and does not not relate to any useable time module at all. Neither 12xcalendar months nor 13x4week months. RPS
Hi, The calculation is currently based on 30 days in a month - ie. (21.95/30) x 23 Matt - Thanks for clarifying the calculations. Can we get this changed ASAP Matt? Is it just one file that needs to be modified? Or is this a fairly large change?
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted March 10, 2009 WHMCS CEO Share Posted March 10, 2009 Yes, it's fairly simple to change although not quite that easy. Can't see any reason why it was done this way initially so I'll have a look at in the next couple of days. Matt
