Appleton
Hiya, Im looking to expand my existing business to service not only UK but US, AU and EU. Currently correct me if im wrong - within General Settings -> Localisation you set your "selling currency" If i wanted to sell in the local currency, would I need seperate installations of WHMCS 1 per currency? then write my own browser detection script to point them to the correct installation or am i missing something completely? Thanks Rob.
chickendippers
Yes that is correct. Or you could wait a few months for version 4, which will support multi-currency on a single installation
Appleton
lol i guess i can wait - i had seen mention of "multi-currency" bounded about - didnt realise it was a version 4 feature. Wonder where Matt's pulling the exchange rates from? - Currently i use ECB XML feed. Would be nice to run 1 central price then allow it to convert based upon browser location. chickendippers
http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=15448 There is no exchange rate mechanism as I understand it, you just set the price in each currency.

Yes i agree - it is better in this method - that way you are actually set proper prices on websites as opposed to all sorts of constant changing prices
kran
http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=15448 There is no exchange rate mechanism as I understand it, you just set the price in each currency. No..no ... no... if you if you are familiar with the export and import or global economy, the exchange rate can cause a company to go out off business in 1 day..... plus the nightmare of resetting prices manually for all products daily, since for example the dollar or any currency can lose It's value 20% in just few hours... The best approach, is to have your own central currency dollars, yen, EU, and just display the exchange rate, to your customer usually that's what your foreign customer needs, the transactions will be done in your local money, or you can use a strong currency, like Euros, Dollars, etc... that way is easier, faster, and it will not mess your accounting. Using a money exchange rate company (the are many that offer the service free)... I've used http://dynamicconverter.com/ since 2006, the module can be written in a way that can be adapted to may of these companies,
chickendippers
Personally I'm satisfied with how the current implementation is sounding. After-all, if you have two WHMCS installations (the current solution for multi-currency) you'd need to update all the prices daily based on exchange rates anyway. With fixed prices I can advertise my products as £22/$35 consistently rather than £23.84/$35 one day and £22.95/$35 the next.
