help with header.tpl not working properly

I was trying an idea and now I can't get it to go back to the way it was. I was trying to have a cutom header in a subdirectory and so I made a copy of my whmcs install dir and copied into this subdirectory. I made the changes I wanted to the header.tpl in the subdir and it worked like I wanted it to.

The problem I ran into is that the main install is messed up. It is somehow using the header.tpl that I edited. I tried various things and then decided to delete the subdirectory with the copy and modified header.tpl. Well even after that it still displays the modified header somehow. I have checked with other computers and it displays the same.

Anyone have a clue on how to fix this? The header.tpl in the templates dir was not modified and is still there.

I did forget to change the template_c directory path and I was thinking that may have something to do with it. Is it ok to delete all files in template_c? I was thinking that whmcs would then recompile all of the templates.
