We’ll be sending out email updates quarterly from now on to keep you up to date with everything that’s happening here @ WHMCS! The decision has been taken to do quarterly updates rather than each time a new release is made in an attempt to try and ease the burden of support tickets that we get each time an announcement email is sent out! In this issue, we’ll be reviewing the latest release and what that introduced, two new offerings from us which include Enom reseller accounts and our new Licensing module, what you can expect to see in our next release version 3.8 and a sneak preview of what is coming up in Version 4. Version 3.7 This was a very successful release and saw the introduction of some great new features. For anyone that missed it, here’s a recap of the key new features and changes: Ability to edit & resend emails that have already been sent to clients Smarty template support in email templates allowing for conditional “if” statements to affect the output based on field values, and inclusion of custom PHP code New client options to turn off late fees and overdue notices on a per client basis Multiple levels of taxation – eg. GST and PST Support ticket “related product/service” dropdown menu added to the ticket submission page and displayed to the admin showing a summary of key info New default support ticket view for admins of “Awaiting-Reply” to show just tickets that haven’t yet been replied to Predefined replies usability improvements to speed up browsing and inserting using Ajax New email template to notify the client when a ticket is auto closed due to inactivity Configuration option field types which in addition to the dropdown menus of options previously available add support for radio buttons, Yes/No options and Quantity fields for requesting X times a Configurable Option. New promotional options allowing promo codes that can apply to multiple billing cycles, be limited by what domain TLDs and registration periods they apply to, apply only once or apply to all items in an order, and be valid only for new customers. A detailed Income Forecast Report showing the projected income over a 2 year period for all active accounts broken down by billing cycle and month Simplified admin order process with just one page to complete Affiliates withdrawals history log to record when payouts are made and the amounts, and auto update the remaining balance New registrar module for Nominet’s EPP system Intelligent search added to all admin pages As you can see, it was a feature packed release and following a successful BETA, V3.7.1 was released as stable on 10th September followed by a maintenance release addressing all the reported issues since the release on the 6th October. If you haven’t yet upgraded to V3.7.2, now is the time to do so! Free Enom Accounts for Direct Clients At the beginning of last month at the time of ICANN’s price increases for domains, and ResellerClub’s decision to increase prices by almost double that increase, we introduced a new offering of a free Enom Reseller account for all our clients. In order to qualify for the free Enom account you need to have purchased your license directly from us rather than through a reseller. When you pair Enom with your WHMCS system you can fully automate the domain registration and management process as we have full integration of all the supported domain management functions inside WHMCS with the Enom API. In addition, you can also start offering SSL Certificates with automated provisioning and setup. There are no setup fees or hidden costs and you are getting the same $8.95 level of pricing for domains, which, if signing up directly with Enom would require a $995 setup fee or $3975 initial deposit – a colossal saving! New Licensing Module The new addon licensing module for WHMCS allows you to license your own web applications using WHMCS. Based on the experience we have in licensing our own application, you can rest assured that your commercial products will be licensed by a strong and reliable system. The licensing module supports two methods of licensing - local & remote. The remote checks are where your product "calls home" to your WHMCS installation to validate the license. In the event that it is unable to do that, either due to your server being down or a firewall blocking the connection, it falls back to the local key licensing method which is a time limited encrypted key stored on the users server for use in the event of a remote check failure. This local key is updated every time a remote check is successful and ensures that your clients won't be locked out of your software should your server be down temporarily for any reason. You can expect to see this either late November or early December. Below are some of the new features it will contain: Quotes/Estimates Tool for writing up quotes, delivering to the client, and then converting to clients/invoices if accepted SEO Friendly URLS for Announcements, Downloads & the Knowledgebase Configurable options groups system so that groups of options can be applied to many products and managed independently for mass updates Ability to re-order existing custom fields & configurable options Client Dropdown Format Customisability “Free Domain” new option of only applying to the first year Ticket Search function in the client area New promotion setting for “Free Setup” promo codes Bulk Domain Transfer Tool to compliment existing Bulk Registration Tool Version 4 Preview Version 4 will see the introduction of the long-awaited and much-requested multi-currency support in WHMCS. This will allow you to run as many different currencies as you want concurrently inside your WHMCS system and set the pricing for all your products, services, addons and domains in each of those currencies. For those that don’t wish to use more than one currency, there will be no noticeable changes or added complications – something I was keen to ensure when adding this feature. Along with that, the admin area HTML has been entirely re-coded to make use of better HTML and CSS code/formatting & styling. The header & footer of the admin area has been converted into templated areas to allow you to customise the admin side look and colours/formatting of even the content areas through the CSS.
