Invoice deleted but items not? Resetting starting number causes problems!

Hi,

I deleted a couple of invoices because they were test ones. I reset the starting invoice number to what the system said I could start at. For example, I did a test where invoice 30 and 31 were generated. I deleted them. I reset the starting invoice number to 30 as it said the last invoice was 29. That makes sense.

So when I generated an invoice for the next real client (#30), not only did it have the hosting package for him, but also the hosting package from the test invoice (#30 that was deleted). So suddenly he had an invoice for two separate things one of which he had no idea what it was. I noticed this old info from deleted invoices is still stored in the database in the tblinvoiceitems table. As soon as the new invoice 30 is generated, it sees the info in that table for invoice 30 as part of the new invoice. Why on earth is that stuff still in there when the invoice itself was deleted? None of that stuff shows up in the admin panel because the invoice was deleted. Why does the system still hold on to it? When you delete an invoice, all things associated with it should be gone.

Anyways, am I missing something? How can I ensure that when I use the next starting number indicated, that there is no old info still attached to it? I'm forced to just guess and jump ahead a whole bunch or actually go into the DB. What's the point of deleting invoices then?

Thanks!
