Quantity

I see that with the release of 3.7.1 we can now do quantities but I'm stumped as to how. I've gone to Configurable Options, selected Quantity (which has the same fields as drop down but you can't add additional lines when you create the configurable option) and tried.

Sure the box appears in the ordering system but a customer can't enter anything in it? They simply see a drop down box, which is strange as you can't actually create a drop down box , there is only one one line in it, and the customer can't enter anything into it when ordering.

Apologies if I am missing something very basic here but help appreciated.

Thanks

Nabil

Configuration --> Products/Service --> Edit the product and you will see a 'Stock' tab to enter in the quantity.

This is not new to 3.7.1 but has been around for a good while....2.5 if I am correct. Is that what you are referring to?

No it's not the stock option, don't personally use that, it's the being able to order a quantity of something - feature request that was added to 3.7.1:

Configuration - Products/Services - Configurable Options - Add New configurable Option

Then you Option Type - Quantity

Can't figure out how to work it

Configurable Option Field Types

"Another addition to V3.7 ............ The Quantity type allows you to offer a box where the user can enter a number of an item they want - for example you might use it for asking how many subdomains a customer wants, or how many pages in a website design, etc... It allows you to set a fixed amount per item that is then multiplied up by the number requested by the client."

  • 1 month later...
  • 2 weeks later...

there should only be 1 box, you set the name for the box and set the pricing structure according for the week, month, quarter, etc..

they will show up in the admin panel under the customers products / services as:

Config Name ___QTY___ x field name - (price established)

theres only one field cause its a quantity field and requires you to input what you want TIMES the prices.

Let me know. If your not able to see it in the products and services window for a client, then maybe you updated your WHMCS admin panel in correctly or missed a file or two.

Let me know

It doesn't work for me still. I attached a couple of screenshots. I understand what you write about there being only one line on the configurable options, but it doesn't give a quantity drop down on the customer side. I checked the admin files with windiff. Maybe I missed something on the client side on the last update.

I just tried with the default template and that doesn't work either. Any ideas?

Well feather me timbers

Shouldn't that be "shiver me timbers"?

From wikipedia: Shiver me timbers is an exclamation in the form of a mock oath usually attributed to the speech of pirates in works of fiction. It is employed as a literary device by authors to express shock, surprise or annoyance. The phrase is based on real nautical slang and is a reference to the timbers, which are the wooden support frames of a sailing ship. In heavy seas, ships would be lifted up and pounded down so hard as to "shiver" the timbers, startling the sailors. Such an exclamation was meant to convey a feeling of fear and awe, similar to, "Well Blow Me Down!", or, "May God Strike Me Dead". Shiver is also reminiscent of the splintering of a ship's timbers in battle - splinter wounds were a common form of battle injury on wooden ships ('shiver' means splinter in some English dialects). More...

Best wishes,

Rae
