Pipey
Thanks once again for such a great product. I have just upgraded to 3.7.1 and love it. What I have run into however is that on my home page (http://www.valleyconcepts.com/billing/index.php) I can can click on any of the icons and get to that page. If I click on its match in the left menu, the visitor is required to login. This is a custom template from before this upgrade and has probably something to do with it. Any advice please? Thanks

netmotiv8
Hello, When we upgrade we do this: 1) download a copy of the templates folder to local development server/pc 2) Rename the templates folder on the live server to template.bak 3) Upload the new version of WHMCS, as per the README.txt instructions, to the live server. 4) Compare the templates files downloaded in (1) with the template files uploaded in (3) using an application called Beyond Compare to review the code changes in the templates and where applicable apply previous code mods (being very very careful to make sure we are not overwriting any important code in the new templates) into the new templates. 5) Upload modified template files to live server 6) Check the website to see how the templates look. Normally we only have to worry about: /templates/default/header.tpl /templates/default/footer.tpl /lang/English.txt And the check for anything else that might have slipped the net once uploaded John from AllureHosting use to manage the template changes for us, but we now do it ourselves. I hope this helps. Cheers Neil
Pipey
Thanks Neil. A very helpful answer. I had used Beyond Compare for the language files we had customized but did not think of the header. I suppose, if I take the new header, customize a copy of it, and put it in my Custom folder, I should be all right? netmotiv8
Hi Pipey, Yes that should be fine. We don't actually have a 'custom' template setup we just use/overwrite the files in the 'default' folder. Glad my info was of some use to you Cheers Neil
