cart variables on different pages?

i want to use "cart.php" and "cart.php?a=view" smarty variables on index page or different pages. how can i call variables out of own templates? i called only cartitems variable and placed it on "init.php" for displaying how much products in cart on everypage.

$cartitems = count ($_SESSION['cart']['products']) + count ($_SESSION['cart']['addons']) + count ($_SESSION['cart']['domains']);
 $smarty->assign ('cartitems', $cartitems);

i found code on "cart.php" but not enough for me i want to use;

$total variable $products array variable,$subtotal etc. anyone knows?
