WHMCS CEO Matt Posted January 13, 2006 WHMCS CEO Share Posted January 13, 2006 Hi, Version 2.3 is a major new version of WHMCS. It is going to see some of the biggest changes ever implemented between a single release. To let users know what to expect, here's a little preview of what's being implemented. New Support for all Products & Services & Many New Options Version 2.3 will see support added for all products and services including shared and reseller hosting, dedicated and VPS servers, and anything else you want to sell. You will be able to specify a custom welcome message for each product to be sent after you accept the order for it, it will also be possible to hide individual packages from the order form and you will be able to choose whether to show domain registration options for a product. Another major new feature for products is that you can specify up to 5 custom fields that apply to each product rather than custom fields that apply to all products – these can be text boxes, drop down menus or checkboxes and can be set as required or optional. Dedicated and VPS Servers will ask the user for a hostname, root password and nameservers they want by default. New Coupon Options You will be able to set coupons to give a monetary discount in addition to the current percentage discounts from Version 2.3 onwards meaning you can offer a wider range of special offers to your customers. You will be able to setup coupons to apply to any of the products or services offered by the WHMCS System. Enom API Integration Enom API Integration is going to be included to allow you to automatically register and renew selected domain extensions from your WHMCompleteSolution Administration Area. In addition to this, clients will be able to manage the contact information for domains registered with Enom and change the nameservers from their client area. Order System Changes The order system is being changed to support the new products and services which you can offer through your WHMCS System. Products will be able to have one time fees with no recurring charges and you will be able to specify different setup fees for each of the different payment terms you offer – Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annually and Annually. Validation on client fields is also being modified to allow certain characters which are currently disallowed. A second order form is also being created to allow the ordering of just domain names on their own if you choose to allow it which will cross promote your hosting along with the registration. Client Area Updates The Client Area is being updated to accommodate a number of new features. These include: A new hosting account details section where clients can view all the details about their hosting account, login to cPanel via a direct link, login to webmail via a direct link, view all addons for their packages and order new addons. There will also be new areas for displaying all other products and services the client has bought from you and a section where they can view the messages which have been sent to them online in their client area. Support Tickets Email Piping Email piping is where emails sent are interpreted by a script. Version 2.3 will see support for email piping with support tickets so clients can reply to tickets by email. Tickets will not be able to be created by email for this version because of problems if non-registered users send in tickets so only replies will be accepted in this version. As I think you will see, Version 2.3 promises to be a great new release of WHMCS. Currently planned for release in 3-4 weeks, this update will be available free to all existing members as are all updates to the script. No more new feature requests are being accepted for this version but please keep your requests coming in for future versions. There are probably a few things I’ve missed above but the majority of new features for the new version are included there. Matt
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted January 14, 2006 Author WHMCS CEO Share Posted January 14, 2006 Something I've noticed I've missed out of the above - Version 2.3 will also allow the ordering of Addons when the customer first signs up. This means that for dedicated servers in particular you can have configurable options with additional charges to users.
