dexus
When client try to change hosting package pass, and put some simple pass that cPanel can't accept, it will show message that pass is not changed but it will still change pass in WHMCS database and that is little confusing for client, because he will see a new password shown on the same page and message that pass is not changed... WHMCS should leave old password in the database if password change in the hosting control panel was not successful.
handsonwebhosting
I haven't seen cpanel reject a password when entering it through WHMCS. Even if the password is set as "password" it has accepted it for me here on the 3.6.1 version. I'll have to run a test on short passwords like 4 characters, but I haven't seen an issue in that version that I recall yet.
dexus
cPanel have have option to set required password strength. You probably didn't enabled that option. When that is enabled password will not be changed if does not meet required complexity and WHMCS will still put new password to the database even if password is not changed on the server. Also without that option if for example cpanel service is down or stuck or any other similar problem on the server password will not be changed on the server but WHMCS will change it in the database.
handsonwebhosting
Yeah, I think I've left that option disabled. Haven't run into an issue where the cpanel process was stuck doing something else however. No complaints from customers as of yet anyway.
